The enterprise BELWEST was created in June, 1988, being one of the first joint ventures on the territory of the former Soviet Union.

The sources of its creation were two famous manufacturers of footwear – Vitebsk factory «Krasny Oktyabr» and a German company SALAMANDER. Later on, since the end of 2002 BELWEST has been a Belarus-Russian joint venture.

The following important stage of the way to creation of the popular shoes is the shop-floor (production). Here skilful hands of workers assemble boots and shoes from a set of details - the footwear is later eagerly purchased in shops. To make one pair of footwear, it is necessary to perform not less than 185 operations. And the worker should execute each of them as if this pair is unique, because this is an indicator of skill. Undoubtedly, the effective policy in the field of quality allowed BELWEST in 2002 to become the first among the CIS shoe enterprises which have certificated the system of quality management on conformity to international standard ISO 9001.

Often for realisation of new projects special equipment is needed. So, BELWEST was one of the first in the republic to begin producing moccasins and footwear of the newest method of sole attachment San Crispino. It is possible to name such footwear safely antistressful, it is as comfortable as possible: easy, flexible, spacious, "breathing".
